Seplat Energy Plc, says is delighted to announce that the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), has confirmed that consent has been granted by the Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to proceed with the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU).
“Seplat Energy sincerely thanks His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for granting this approval, and appreciates the support and diligence of the various Ministries and regulators for all the work on this Transaction”the oil company said in a brief statement early on Tuesday
Recall that the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe had on Monday listed the Seplat Energy Offshore Limited/ Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) application divestment application among the four that have passed the Regulatory test and secured ministerial consent.

The Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu in his October 1 broadcast, had assured the public of his approval for Seplat Energy Offshore Limited’s acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) all onshore assets would be granted within days, following clearance from the regulatory body.
The consent is coming more than two years after the $1.28 billion deal was first agreed.
