ENERGY TIMES Award Holds Today in Lagos

The much-anticipated ENERGY TIMES Award holds today in Lagos, bringing together key stakeholders across Nigeria’s energy landscape and beyond.Energy industry leaders, experts, academia, and dignitaries from across the world are expected to grace the occasion.

Now in its third edition, the ENERGY TIMES Award is designed to recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations whose work continues to transform the energy sector and improve lives across the country.

The awardees, drawn from diverse segments of the industry, were carefully selected based on their outstanding contributions to the energy sector, as well as their positive impact on Nigeria’s economy and citizens, particularly in 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Editorial Board Chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Lawal, a team of seasoned industry professionals was constituted as an advisory body to enhance the credibility and content of the awards process.In total, 35 individuals and corporate organisations whose activities significantly impacted lives and the economy in 2025 will be honoured at today’s ceremony.

Established in March 2017, ENERGY TIMES was created to bridge the gap in in-depth energy news analysis and reportage in Nigeria.

The publication currently boasts a subscriber base of 1,825 across Nigeria and internationally, with offices in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.

Among the prominent awardees are Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya.Engr. Akinwole Omoboriowo II, Chairman of Genesis Energy, will be honoured as Man of the Year for his impact across African countries.

Corporate organisations including PANA Holdings, MOMAS Group, and Egbin Power Plc will also be recognised for excellence in local content, innovation/technology leadership, and electricity generation, respectively.

Dr. Joy Ogaji will receive the Amazon of the Nigerian Power Sector Award for her significant contributions to the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Other notable honourees include:Mr. Tony Attah, CEO of Renaissance Africa Energy Company – CEO of the YearDr. Diran Fawibe, Chairman of International Energy Services – Oil Sector Icon of the Year

Engr. Kola Balogun, Chairman of MOMAS Group, recognised for innovative leadership, including the development of a €3 million Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) Centre in Ogun State.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, will attend as Special Guest of Honour and is also a recipient of an Excellence Award.

Additional Excellence Award recipients include:Engr. Aliyu Abubakar, MD, Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, NCMDB, Mr. Kennie Obateru, former NNPC spokesperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwakemi Olumuyiwa, former Head (ED), Relationship & Stakeholder Management, Corporate Communications Division of NNPC Limited.

Further recognitions include:Power Sector Expert Award – Mr. Oritsedere OtubuCEO of the Year (Power Sector)

– Mrs. Rekiat Momoh, CEO of the year

-Energy Company CSR Excellence Award-Seplat Energy Plc

-Outstanding Oil & Gas Personality – Mr. Osayande Igiehon of Heirs Energies

-Strategic Energy Investor – Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, SIFAX Group

-Union Leader of the Year – Comrade Williams Akporeha, NUPENG President.

-Power Sector Personality of the Year – Engr. Jennifer Adighije, CEO, NDPHC

-Government Agency of the Year – National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI)

In addition, NIPCO Gas Limited will be honoured with the Gas Infrastructure Leadership Award 2025, alongside other industry players such as Platform Petroleum Limited, Aradel Holdings Plc, and Nembe Exploration and Production Company Limited.

The President of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, will be represented by the Vice President, Engr. Obi Uzu as a Special Guest of honour.

The event will be chaired by Prof. Olumuyiwa Popoola, a renowned scholar and former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.

The ENERGY TIMES Award continues to grow as a prestigious platform celebrating excellence, innovation, and impact within Nigeria’s energy sector.
