Chairman of Emperion Power Company, Mr. Femi Otedola; Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi; Chairman of Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria and Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of ENL Consortium, Dr Vicky Haastrup, and Group Chairman, Pacific Energy Company, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, have offered to buy the six National Independent Power Projects (NIPPs) for $734,428,270 (about N756.461 billion).
The Federal Government and the 36 state governors had in 2022 agreed to sell the six power plants under the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) after over two years of disputes and legal tussle as regards the sale of the plants. The plants are being managed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
The five bidders were finally selected from16 companies that were announced by the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE) in July 2022 to have been pre-qualified for the six plants.
