NUPRC: An enabler of upstream business in Nigeria: The Commission Chief Executive (CCE) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory (NUPRC), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, has said that the commission which was recently set up with the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), is the enabler Upstream Business in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
The CCE who stated this in his maiden address with staff of the defunct Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the commission is tasked with the responsibility to regulate technical and commercial activities of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum industry which he said, entails focusing the commission’s regulatory strategy in enabling critical upstream projects that will attract needed revenue for government.
He reiterated that the industry was at a critical period with global focus on energy transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy which is competing with the need for Nigeria to increase production and boost crude reserves.
He enjoined and solicited the cooperation of all staff to enable the laying of a solid regulatory foundation and build a 21st century regulator.
He assured that staff welfare, human capital development will be given utmost priority to enable the commission achieve the aspirations of government for the upstream sector.
