NNPC Limited has confirmed an explosion that occurred at approximately 17:50 hours on 10 December 2025 near the Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in the Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.
It stated that preliminary assessments show a pressure drop on an NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline, indicating a loss of containment.
The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined and will be established following a comprehensive investigation.
“Our immediate priority is ensuring the safety of nearby communities and protecting the environment. Emergency response protocols have been activated, and NNPC Limited is working closely with relevant authorities and community leaders to coordinate efforts and minimize impact.
