The much anticipated ENERGY TIMES Award ceremony will be held today, April 11, 2025 in Lagos.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji; Former Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Engr. Mele Kolo Kyari; NMDPR’s Chief Executive, Engr. Ahmed Farouk; the immediate past and first female Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), Mrs Elohor Aiboni, are among dignitaries that will be honored at the second edition of ENERGY TIMES’ Award.
The event will take place at Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
Adelabu, who will lead the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) to the occasion, will be the Special Guest of Honour. The Minister will be honored with the Energy Personality of the year award.
Governor Abiodun OYEBANJI of Ekiti state will be honored as Energy Governor of the year for his immeasurable developmental energy projects he initiated in Ekiti state.

NMDPR’s Chief Executive, Engr. Ahmed Farouk, clinched the Transformational Leadership Award while Dr Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director, Sahara group will receive Energy Icon of the year, Mrs Mojisola Abdul, Chairman Mojec International will be honored with Entrepreneur of the year.
The immediate past GCEO of NNPCL, Mele Kolo Kyari, is the Man of the Year Kyari spearheaded the turnaround of NNPCL from loss-making to a profit-making company, sustained competitiveness in the downstream and under whose watch Nigerian owned refineries roared to life.
Engr. Dr. Samuel Erhigare Onoji, the Principal/Chief Executive, Petroleum Training Institute, is the CEO of The Year.
The award came after ENERGY TIMES’ Board and a body of Advisers’ careful assessment of his contributions and impacts on Nigeria’s Oil and Gas sector, particularly at the Petroleum Training Institute of which he is the Principal/Chief Executive.

Other awardees are Mrs Elohor Aiboni, as the Amazon of Nigeria’s Oil sector for her positive impacts and contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Mr Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, Chief Executive Officer, First (First E&P), is the Industry Personality Of The Year for his impact, and immense contributions to Nigeria’s Oil and gas sub sector particularly, his recent appointment as Nigeria’s Governor for the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and subsequent appointment as Chairman of the Board of Governors for 2025.
The Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited, ENGR. JENNIFER ADIGHIJE is the Young Achiever of the year. A seasoned engineer and reform-driven leader, she has increased power generation from under 500MW to over 800MW within months of her appointment.
Chief Chamberlain Oyibo is the Doyen of the Nigerian oil Industry while Dr. Daere Akobo, Chairman of PANA Holdings, the Visionary CEO of the year

MBH Power Limited is considered as the Most Integrated Energy Solution Company of the year and
Comrade Festus Osifo is the Labour Leader Of TheYear. He is the 16th President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) as well as President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is the Government Agency of the year.
Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Biodun Ogunleye is expected as a special guest of honour.

Besides, corporate organizations such as MG VowGas Group, NIPCO Gas, will be honored as Local Content Company of the year as well as Most Integrated Gas Company of the year respectively.
MG Vowgas Group whose Managing Director is Godwin Isomor, will be honored as Local Content Company of the year for its unwavering efforts at ensuring that local content takes its proper footing in the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The company has excelled in a number of projects in the industry.

Meanwhile, top oil industry professionals that have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers will be honored with Excellence awards.
They are NNPC Limited’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye, Executive Chairman of Raffles Energies Ltd, Prof. Billy Okoye and the immediate past General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Company(NLNG), Mr Andy Odeh
MOMAS Electricity Meter Manufacturing Company (MEMMCOL) will receive the most Innovative Company of the Year award while Heirs Energies will be conferred with outstanding Oil & Gas company of the year.

Also, five long-standing subscribers to the newspaper will be appreciated at the event with certificates of recognition.
The awardees which were carefully selected based on their contributions in the energy sector include top industry players, organisations and government agencies whose contributions have impacted the economy and people’s lives positively.

According to a statement signed by the newspaper’s Editorial Board Chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Lawal, to make the event, being the maiden edition, a memorable one, a team of industry experts were constituted into a body of Advisers to deepen the content of the award.
Speaking further, Lawal said that this year’s award was meant to appreciate and recognize individuals and companies whose works had impacted people’s lives positively.
He said: “These subscribers, including an organisation, have in no small measure, stood by us in ENERGY TIMES from the beginning till date. We are impressed by their sacrifices and the trust they have in us.”
