Sunbeth Energies Limited has launched Nigeria’s first self-service fuel station at its Ogba outlet in Lagos, introducing a digital fueling experience that allows customers to purchase fuel independently through a secure and user-friendly platform.
The landmark initiative marks a significant step in the modernisation of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector and underscores the company’s commitment to digital innovation, operational transparency, and enhanced customer experience.
The self-service platform enables motorists to initiate, monitor, and complete fuel purchases without the assistance of station attendants. Customers can track every stage of the transaction in real time—from selecting the fuel quantity to monitoring the litres dispensed and confirming payment—offering greater transparency and convenience during the fueling process.
For decades, fuel purchases across Nigeria have largely depended on attendant-operated dispensing systems, often leaving consumers with limited visibility into the fueling process and raising concerns about dispensing accuracy and transaction transparency. Sunbeth Energies’ latest innovation addresses these challenges by giving customers complete control over their fuel purchases, thereby enhancing confidence and accountability at the pump.
The technology behind the self-service station was developed in partnership with Tech Brokers Limited, a Nigerian technology company specialising in digital transformation and enterprise technology solutions. The platform integrates intelligent forecourt automation with secure payment systems and is designed to operate seamlessly across multiple payment platforms and forecourt technologies.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of Sunbeth Energies Limited, Lateef Abioye, described the project as a milestone for both the company and the country’s petroleum industry.
“Today is a defining moment not only for Sunbeth Energies but also for Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry,” Abioye said. “By launching Nigeria’s first self-service fuel station, we are introducing a new standard of transparency, convenience, and customer empowerment. Every customer deserves to know exactly what they are paying for, and this innovation gives them that confidence.”
He noted that the initiative demonstrates the capacity of Nigerian companies to develop and deploy world-class technological solutions that address industry-specific challenges.

We are proud to be leading a transformation that will redefine how Nigerians purchase fuel.”
Industry observers believe the introduction of self-service fueling technology could pave the way for wider adoption of digital and automated solutions across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum value chain, improving service delivery while promoting greater transparency and efficiency in fuel retail operations.
The launch positions Sunbeth Energies at the forefront of innovation in Nigeria’s energy sector and signals the beginning of a new era in customer-driven fuel retailing.
