Seplat Begins Maintenance on Major Gas Plant; Power Generation May Be Impacted

Seplat Energy Plc, a Joint Venture partner of NNPC Ltd and a significant supplier of natural gas into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) pipeline network, has commenced a scheduled routine maintenance exercise on its gas production facilities from February 12 to February 15, 2026.

The planned intervention forms part of standard industry safety, reliability and asset integrity protocols aimed at ensuring the continued optimal performance of critical gas infrastructure.

Periodic maintenance of this nature is essential to sustain operational efficiency, enhance system resilience, and reduce the likelihood of unplanned outages across the gas-to-power value chain.
During the four-day maintenance window, gas volumes injected into the NGIC pipeline network will be temporarily reduced.

Consequently, some power generation companies (GenCos) that depend on this supply stream may experience lower gas availability, potentially leading to a modest dip in electricity generation within the affected period.

NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy are collaborating closely to ensure the maintenance exercise is executed safely and completed within schedule. Meanwhile, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to bridge anticipated supply gaps and cushion the impact on downstream customers.
Upon completion of the maintenance activities, full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly, enabling affected generation companies to return to normal operational levels.
