We pay for only electricity generated, put on the grid – NBET 

The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), has said that it only responsible for electricity generated and put on the grid and not bilateral supply. 

In a telephone conversation with ENERGY TIMES on Monday, NBET Head, Corporate Communications, Henrietta Ighomrore, stated that NBET pays for electricity generated and put on the grid.

Ighomrore who was reacting to a story published in this week’s edition of ENERGY TIMES titled: NBET denies NDPHC January payment, said only one of the eight plants owned and operated by NDPHC, generated power to the grid in the month of January while others generated for bilateral.

She said: “The grid distributed electricity is monitored and tracked by the Market Operator, who then issues a Final Settlement to all Market Participants (I.e. Gencos, NBET, Discos, etc).  The FSS is used for issuance of invoices to related parties, Gencos issue invoice to NBET for the electricity they put on the grid, NBET validates Gencos invoices with the FSS. The FSS is the basis of NBET payments to Gencos”, she stated 
NBET is only responsible for grid distributed energy”

Ighomrore  said the January Payment for grid distributed electricity is being processed by the parties and is due for payment.
