The Director General, West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA), Chafari Kanya Hanawa on Thursday, in Marakech, Morocco shared the authority’s experiences in the natural gas transportation and regulation on the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP).
The Authority has been in operation for more than 12 years.
WAGPA was represented at the summit by its Director General: Chafari Kanya Hanawa and the Director Technical, Alain Sedjro, to share their experiences in the natural gas transportation and regulation on the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP), being in operation for more than 12 years now.
Hanawa expressed the authority’s readiness to cooperate in the development of the NMGP.
The Summit provided the opportunity to meet with various stakeholders and discuss the advancement and interact on the Nigeria Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) and the West African Gas Pipeline and the rôle of WAGPA in the success of the new project.
More than 14 countries and institutions attended the event.

The main highlight of the Summit was the high level round Table discussions on the progress of the Nigeria Morocco Gas Pipeline Project; the opportunities for the ECOWAS region, Morocco and Mauritania: the financing strategy as well as involvement of the West African Gas Pipeline Authority for the successful implementation of the Project.
At the sideline of the Summit, the NMGP Technical Committee held several meetings to review the progress of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and the Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) studies, the Intergovernmental Agreements (IGA) as well the Host Government Agreements that would be signed by the countries involved in the project.
