NMGP: Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal sign four MoU in Mauritania 

In furtherance of the implementation of the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project, Nigeria together with  Morocco and Senegal, signed four different Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday in Nouakchott,Mauritania.

Those who signed the documents on behalf of their countries were the Group chief executive officer, NNPC Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, DG-ONHYM of Morocco, Ms Amina Benkhadra; GM PETROSEN Holdings of Senegal, Adama Djallo and DG SMH of Mauritania, Tourad Abdoul Baghi. 

In his remarks, Kyari said integration of West African economies through the NMGP is critical for the region’s economic growth,adding that NNPCL was committed to converting the project into functional value for all transit nations.

Also speaking, DG ONHYM, Ms Amina Benkhadra said her organisation was committed towards the integration of West African economies through the project, which she said, will help to cut down GHG emissions and meet up with Europe’s gas requirements.

On his part, the GM PETROSEN Holdings, Adama Djallo, thanked the Government of Mauritania for hosting the signing ceremony of the execution of the NNPC/ONHYM/Petrosen Tripartite MoU, adding that the Senegalese NOC would work with all partners to make the cooperation successful.

The MoU signing was a follow-up to the MoU signed between the @nnpclimited, Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) of Morocco and the @ecowas_cedeao, held on 15th September, 2022 in Rabat, Morocco. 

Once completed,  the NMGP Project will supply about 3bscfd of gas along the West African Coast from Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania to Morocco. 

Other benefits of the NMGP Project include improving the living standards of people, integration of the economies within the Sub-region and mitigating against desertification through sustainable & reliable gas supply.
