The Group Chief Executive, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Mele Kolo Kyari, has won the Man of the Year Award in this year’s ENERGY TIMES’ international Award.
This award comes after ENERGY TIMES’ Board and a body of Advisers’ careful assessment of his impact and immense contributions to Nigeria’s Energy sector, particularly his giant strides in bringing back to life the 250,000 barrels per day Warri Petrochemical refinery and the 60,000 Port Harcourt refinery as well as other notable achievements, including the increase in domestic natural gas consumption and a boost in oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.
In the words of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the NNPCL under Kyari’s leadership recorded notable achievements including the resuscitation of two refineries, an increase in domestic natural gas consumption and a boost in oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.

The President further said: “Kyari’s dedication to service and professionalism at the NNPC and OPEC and as the first Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL is highly commendable. Kyari is a shining example and an embodiment of the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Kyari’s consistence and doggedness in pursuing the Present administration’s policy has helped in entrenching and sustaining competitiveness in the downstream sub-sector of the Nigerian economy.
Under the leadership of Mele Kyari, NNPC has grown in leaps and bounds. Kyari has achieved remarkable milestones and recorded several “firsts” in the industry. These milestones include groundbreaking advancements in exploration, production, and global partnerships that were previously thought unattainable.
