The Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed, has disclaimed a statement purportedly issued by him in response to corruption allegations made by Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
In a clarification, Engr. Ahmed stated: “My attention has been drawn to a purported response that I was said to have made regarding the recent allegations against my person. I hereby categorically state that the said statement did not emanate from me.
While I am aware of the wild and spurious allegations made against me and my family, and the frenzy they have generated, I have, as a regulator of a sensitive industry, chosen not to engage in public brickbats.
Thankfully, the individual behind the allegations has taken the matter to a formal investigative institution. I believe this will provide an opportunity to dispassionately examine the issues and ultimately clear my name.”
