A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman to 75 years imprisonment after finding him guilty of a N33.8 billion fraud case.
Mamman was convicted on all 12 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The commission had accused him of diverting and laundering funds earmarked for critical power sector projects during his tenure as minister.
In delivering judgment, the court held that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The judge subsequently imposed a cumulative jail term of 75 years.
The case centred on allegations of large-scale financial misconduct involving billions of naira in public funds meant for the development of Nigeria’s power sector.
