The African Development Bank (the Bank) hereby invites Firm Consultants to indicate their interest in the following Assignment: “Study on Solar Manufacturing Potential for Desert to Power Sahel Countries.”
The overall scope of services will include conducting a study on solar manufacturing/assembly in the Desert to Power (DtP) Sahel countries, namely (Burkina Faso, Chad, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan) in line with the Bank’s High 5 priorities(Light up & Power Africa, Industrialize Africa, Integrate Africa and Improve the quality of lives of Africans).
The studies objectives are to:
Explore the advantages and viability of manufacturing/producing solar panels indifferent countries within andaround the Sahel to capture all the opportunities andpotential for every component linked to solar industry (modules, Balance of Systems(BOS), including inverters, batteries, other components using local materials from thecontinent.
Assess the role that solar component manufacturing (at different scales) could play inthe structural transformation of the economies of the 11 DtP countries.
Determine the viability and bankability of localized production and/or assembly ofSolar PV components and to assesswhich countries (i) have a better Return onInvestments (ROI) and (ii) are capable to support the development of a sustainable solarmanufacturing industry
